Hair Chalking
The latest in hair trends is hair chalking. Hair chalking is a temporary, non-permanent solution that allows for creative style for special occasions or just to add pizzazz to your everyday style. Sidewalk or soft pastel colored art chalk is used on hair, in whatever color, or even multiple colors, to temporarily color block strands of hair. Chalk is cheap; most arts and crafts mega stores have sets of chalk for less than $5.00.

If you are concerned about an abrupt and permanent change by hair dyeing, hair chalking is the perfect solution. It is really easy, the color is in your hands, not colorists, and you are only limited by your courage and creativity.
Items you will need for this fun hair trend:
Chalk
Rubber gloves
Old towel to protect the floor
Old t-shirt to wear
Spray bottle filled with water
Curling iron/flat iron
Once all of these items are gathered and the floor is protected, begin this new trendy hair style.
Don’t try this hair trend too often. The chalk absorbs the natural moisture in your hair. Use a good conditioner after each washing to make sure your hair stays healthy and silky. Thoroughly brush hair before washing for the first time to try to get as much chalk dust out as possible.
Hair chalking is easy, fast and requires only a small financial commitment but it is a great way to express your personal style. Try chalking a few strands for a pony tail or and up-do, just bangs, or in the back, wherever your creativity leads you.

- Start by misting a 1-inch (or larger, as your preference) section of hair with water. Just moisten the areas in which you want the color to be.
- Choose the lightest of the colors of pastel chalk (3-4 colors total makes for a great statement) and gently rub the chalk against the hair shaft. You can vary the look, with experience, by twisting the hair prior to rubbing with chalk to add nice gradient shades.
- Repeat with other colors and strands of hair.
- Allow to fully air dry.
- Use a curling iron or flat iron to go over the strands of hair. Heat helps the color to set.
- Brush and style as desired.
